Senior Kendra Gipson of the UAB track and field team was named the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Tuesday.

The UAB track and field team opened its 2015 indoor season at the Birmingham-Southern Icebreaker on Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The UAB track & field team announced its 2014-15 indoor and outdoor schedule. The Blazers will host three indoor meets at the Birmingham CrossPlex, including the Conference USA Indoor Championships from Feb. 25-26.

Reava Potter joins the UAB track and field coaching staff after spending the past three seasons at Bethune-Cookman. Potter will be coaching the jump and multi-event student-athletes under the direction of head coach Kurt Thomas.

UAB track and field's Elinor Kirk, Neal Tisher and Kate Brown were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released on Tuesday.
